We look forward to working with the legislature to ensure that Senate Bill 32 – which would extend California’s climate change programs beyond 2020 – will focus on ensuring real, measurable emissions reductions that will bring us air pollution, climate, and health relief. ![]() PSR-LA remains committed to working with the legislature to ensure that we reduce climate emissions and take meaningful action to improve the health of both individuals and communities affected by the air pollution associated with the burning of fossil fuels. Physicians for Social Responsibility-Los Angeles applauds the California Senate for passing a bill that provides a dual path for greenhouse gas emissions reductions and for new economic development through the growth of renewable energy in California. Senate Bill 350 (authored by Senate Pro Tem Kevin de León), which calls for a 50% reduction in petroleum use in vehicles, an increase in the state’s renewable energy standard to 50%, and a 50% increase in building energy efficiency by 2030, was supported by a variety of environmental, health, and justice organizations including PSR-LA. ![]() (LOS ANGELES) Today the California State Senate passed key climate legislation – Senate Bills 350 and 32 – designed to protect California communities from the health impacts associated with climate change and the burning of fossil fuels.
